Back At It Again! AGN, Get Ready!
That's right, folks. I'm finally heading back to the archives for more study on the colonial education of the Nahuas, but now with a focused interest in the experience of the Otomis living, working, and learning with them, under Spanish educators. I've got my mind set on a few weeks of focused archival research, hoping to turn up some perspectives on popular forms of education and the like. It's go time for the dissertation. I hope to get a good bit of research under foot this summer. Wish me luck on making that happen. I will be following up the current stint, roughly three weeks, in the D.F. with a two-month-long stay in August in Puebla first and then Queretaro. Once there, I'll be hunting down the actual built form of learning environments, primarily early churches and their surroundings, but I hope that the local archives will be willing to let me view some of their documents. I'm excited to know that a good contact and great scholar will be setting me up on the Biblioteca Palafoxiana in Puebla. Very exciting! I'm feeling a bit wary but enthused. Come on, Archive Gods, let's make this happen.
Should be in the D.F. in the morning. Here's to a summer full of past perspectives and new revelations!
